Well we (the Royal ‘we’) have been doing the Soup Session radio show every Wednesday, and as a result the jazzcasts have been a lacking… seriously!!! That’s all changing next month… we is getting back to a regular monthly jazzcast for your listening pleasure, taking inspiration from the weekly shows etc… Stay tuned and Peace…

Exploring the eclectic with the 4:12 session… what’s the ideal length of a track? For this session my selection was based solely on the length of each track! We end up with a sexy, ambient, latinized, funky and soulful 2 hour session… only two tracks are not 4 minutes and 12 seconds in length. Enjoy!

A real treat for you all, over at the BBC FOUR iPlayer site this week, four episodes of the landmark BBC 2 televisual series from the 1960’s, Jazz 625, my favourite of which is the Thelonious Monk Quartet session, with Ben Riley, Larry Gayles and Charlie House…. this episode was introduced by British Jazz legend Humphrey Lyttleton (RIP) whom i had the great pleasure of meeting once upon a time… enjoy! also find quite a few Jazz 625 clips on youtube.com.

As a Christmas treat we have a Sherlock Holmes mystery, The Night Before Christmas. A 30 minute radio broadcast circa 1944 with the best (in my opinion) actors who graced the roles, Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce! Show is found in the feed only!
